Blue Mountains Accommodation & Tourism Association Corporate Website | What to Do - Where to Eat - Where to Stay

The organisation began in 1982 as a coming together of Accommodation operators looking to work together to provide a united approach to serving overnight visitors to the Blue Mountains.

Originally incorporated in 1991 as the Blue Mountains Accommodation Association.

In January 2012, the Association changed its name to Blue Mountains Accommodation and Tourism Association (BMATA) and amended the constitution to allow all businesses who have an interest in tourism in the Blue Mountains to join, thus becoming the recognized Local Tourism Organisation (LTO) for the Blue Mountains.

In June 2012, the Association entered into an arrangement with the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) to form a vertical alignment model for the LTO/RTO which will promote Blue Mountains tourism in a seamless, cost effective, non-duplicated, and resource sharing manner.

In September 2013, the Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC) and BMATA signed a Memorandum of Understanding where both parties have agreed to work together collaboratively into the future for the benefit of the local tourism industry.  Each party has agreed to take the lead role in the execution of different projects and using various technologies.  BMATA and BMCC also agreed to liaise with each other on future projects to prevent duplication and enhance the visitor experience to the region.
